A two-story addition and strategic alterations to the existing Wheeler Middle/High School provided a cost-effective solution to achieve a like-new facility through a budget-conscious design approach. The new addition serves as the academic heart of the campus, housing a graphics lab, technology lab, and arts hub offering dynamic, hands-on learning environments. A connector space containing the cafeteria and media center was designed with flexibility in mind, allowing it to be closed off from the remainder of the school for community use during evenings and weekends.

The existing gymnasium received significant upgrades including new bleachers and renovated locker rooms, and administrative areas were reconfigured for improved functionality with additional offices created by repurposing underutilized storage space. The project embraced sustainable and high-performance building strategies, including the installation of a green roof adjacent to a science classroom, providing students with a direct connection to the building's environmental systems as a living learning resource. Energy-efficient HVAC and central air systems were also integrated throughout. Interior finish upgrades incorporated a vibrant color palette, patterned flooring, and cloud ceilings to create a bright and welcoming atmosphere throughout the school.
