Mental Health Unit
The previous 30-bed, 9,300 SF mental health unit was severely outdated. It housed patients only in multi-bedrooms and had shared toilet and shower rooms. The new 34-bed unit is now 23,000 SF, more than two times the size of the previous unit and provides modern standards of care in private and semi-private rooms all with private toilet and bathing facilities. Also, a separate, secure unit for female patients has also been provided. All the spaces were designed to minimize the risk of patient suicide and to enhance patient and staff security.

More Information

The new unit offers generous common spaces and group rooms with warm, durable, and easily maintainable finishes. This multi-phased project was a complete gut and rebuild including the mechanical systems. Comprehensive services were provided by the design and consultant team to address hazardous material abatement, interior design including furniture selection, and medical equipment selection.
