Putnam Hale YMCA
The new Putnam Hale YMCA was built in Putnam to serve as a community center and state-of-the-art wellness facility for people of all ages. The new YMCA build happened concurrently with the development of the Quinebaug Regional Technical Park site, and required a new road and vehicular bridge to be constructed, and utilities extended across the river. Parking, a pedestrian/bike path, and playfields for soccer and baseball are also part of this new community center.

More Information

The new facilities include health and wellness spaces along with childcare services. Two large pools provide an 8-lane, 25-yard competition pool with spectator seating. In addition, there is a warm water family pool, a steam room, sauna, and a whirlpool. A full-size, sub-dividable gymnasium with bleachers is suitable for basketball, volleyball, and other hard-court activities. Outfitted with ample fitness gear, a 5,000 SF wellness center offers areas for stretching, Nautilus equipment, cardiovascular-focused machines, and free weights. The facility also includes two multipurpose rooms: one geared toward group classes such as yoga, Pilates, aerobics, and Zumba; the other with rubber flooring for small, functional training classes.
