Old State House
Widely regarded as Connecticut’s most important historic building, the Old State House has undergone a complete historic restoration, the addition of an underground gallery, and the restoration of its 19th century landscape. The project also brought the building to code compliance and, through the introduction of an elevator and ramping, made the building fully handicapped accessible.

The original 19th Century basement was totally reconfigured to provide a Visitors’ Entrance, Museum Shop, Administrative Offices, and central Stair Hall leading to a new 10,000-SF underground theater space that now serves as a gallery for the Connecticut History Exhibition.

The building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.
