Newtown High School Theater Renovation
With equipment dating back to the 1970s, Newtown High School’s aged and worn auditorium had become a safety hazard for the hundreds of students and community members who perform on the stage. Newtown citizens thus wanted a performing arts facility to promote the success of its talented students as well as the community at large.

More Information

While the focus of this renovation was to upgrade the auditorium to a professional-level theater, the Newtown High School auditorium project included a complete renovation that improved sight lines, acoustics, and reconfigured the entire auditorium floor. Our firm also designed new seating, mechanical and electrical upgrades, and theatrical lighting upgrades. We provided accessibility to the stage via platform “box seats” at the perimeter of the space, and provided a new control booth near the main entrance. The multicolored carpet and the light-red of the seats really brighten up the space. Students are now able to work with professional systems that will prepare them to study theater in college.
