Joint Replacement Center at L+M Hospital
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital’s new Certified Joint Replacement Center emerged from a collaboration between the architecture team, AZ Corporation, and the hospital. The project utilized Lean concepts, and an Integrated Project Delivery method which was led by the hospital. The project consisted of a complete renovation of the existing 12,000 SF unit along with a 4,500 SF addition onto an adjacent rooftop.

More Information

The renovated and new rooms allow for greater accessibility for patients, including barrier-free showers and increased maneuverability at the bathroom fixtures, which was critical for patient and staff satisfaction. Family zone areas with built-in bench seating and enhanced lighting options create an improved visitor experience. Staff areas were reworked to reduce nursing steps and provide decentralized work areas and reduce the unit’s noise levels. A rooftop addition allowed for the number of private rooms to increase by 10, bringing the total number of private rooms to 22 within the 30-bed unit.
