Eli Terry Elementary School
A new K-5 elementary school was built on the existing Eli Terry campus as part of Phase Two of the Town of South Windsor’s Ten-Year Elementary Facilities Master Plan. Construction extended from Spring 2019 to the Summer of 2020, during which time students remained in the original Eli Terry building. With a maximum enrollment of 437 students, Eli Terry hosts the town’s special education programs which were crucial to the design of the building. While preserving the original school’s traditional aesthetics, the introduction of modern elements enhances the structure’s overall design.
More Information
The use of bright primary colors to contrast calming natural wood tones throughout the building create a soothing yet playful environment for the students. Original school signage was salvaged and relocated to become a focal point in the new main lobby. In the Fall of 2020, the original building was demolished to allow for construction of playgrounds and replacement ball field
