Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Corporation’s corporate office is a complete refit of the existing office space. The main premise is to encourage the staff to work more collaboratively. This entailed removing most of the office walls to give the floor an open plan to encourage employee interaction during work hours. The collaboration areas are set up to be flexible for private conversations, informal discussion, or company wide team meetings. This is accomplished by a mix of transparent and translucent walls and moveable partitions around main offices and conference spaces. The translucent walls also allow sunlight and visual connectivity throughout the building. QA+M has collaborated with this client on an on-call basis through many phases of work.
