53 Wadsworth Street
This handsome Italianate house in Hartford had fallen into extreme disrepair after remaining uninhabited for decades. The windows had all been removed, the rear ell was beginning to collapse, and there had even been a fire on the third floor. Catholic Charities, who runs the adjacent Institute for Hispanic Families, initiated the restoration of the building in order to provide early childhood classrooms and social services offices for the neighborhood.

More Information

It was created the restoration and adaptive reuse plans for the project. It was a delicate balance, which required us to meet the needs of the client, the dictates of the Building and Fire Codes, and to meet the expectations of the State Historic Preservation Office, the building, which is a contributing structure in its Historic District, received partial funding through the Historic Tax Credit program. 53 Wadsworth Street was completed early in 2017 and by this summer will be a much-needed resource for local children and their families.
