QA+M Architecture is proud to welcome two familiar faces into full-time roles, Kate Schmucker and Dominic Cavallo. Both joined our studio as interns while completing their degrees (Kate at the University of Maryland and Dominic at Roger Williams University)

Both have already made meaningful contributions to our design work. Their attention to detail, creative thinking, and enthusiasm for collaboration have impressed everyone on the team.

As they transition into full-time roles, we’re excited to support their continued growth as emerging professionals in the field of architecture and design. We had the opportunity to speak with Kate and Dominic about what inspires them in their work and what drew them to the profession.

Dominic Cavallo shared, “Working in architecture is very special. As a designer, you are working to not only create a building, but a space where people share meals, laugh, work, sleep. It collects memories, arrays distinct light qualities, and emits a defined noise level. There aren’t many jobs out there that are as special as this one.”

Kate Schmucker reflected, “I am inspired by the idea that architecture can create lasting impact, and that it is a lifelong pursuit of designing meaningful and sustainable spaces. Every day is a new and exciting opportunity to learn, adapt, and think critically about the world around me.”

At QA+M Architecture, we believe in nurturing the next generation of design professionals by providing mentorship and hands-on experience, which gives them the opportunities to grow within a collaborative studio environment. We’re thrilled to have Kate and Dominic officially join our team and look forward to the creative energy and fresh perspectives they bring to our projects.
